Housing Accommodations

Accommodations within University Housing

NC State makes reasonable housing accommodations for qualified individuals with disabilities. University Housing strives to provide equal access to housing for all residents in accordance with Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act, the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), the Fair Housing Act, and other applicable federal and state regulations that prohibit discrimination on the basis of disability.

All students should complete a University Housing Application and request any accommodations through the DRO as early as possible.  Requests for accommodations should be made well in advance of room assignments. Once housing assignments are made, requests may be subject to availability.   Requests are determined on a case-by-case basis with respect to sufficient documentation meeting university guidelines that addresses how the impact of the disability requires a housing accommodation based on equal opportunity for participation; not based on a perceived benefit to the student. Neither the presence of a disability or approval for a housing accommodation guarantees on-campus housing or a specific roommate.

DRO will notify the student and University Housing of an approved accommodation. University Housing will determine any specific room assignment within a Residence Hall. Students should research housing options (location, access points, bed options (bunk bed/lofts), room style, etc.) prior to room assignments and share potential placement issues, specific questions and concerns with University Housing.

Students eligible for a Service or an Assistance Animal (i.e. Emotional Support Animal) within University Housing are responsible for completing all University Housing procedures related to animals in on-campus housing.

Fraternity and Sorority Housing

Greek Village is home to additional on-campus housing for NC State students. Non-leased facilities including the Greek Village Apartments and the Greek Village townhomes are managed by the University and any request for accommodation can follow the same process as University Housing.

However, House Corporations maintain and operate most aspects of the leased chapter facilities including room agreements and cancellation requests, meal plans, accomodation and exemption requests. DRO approved accommodations are not intended to convey and students must contact their specific House Corporation to request accommodations.
